Frame or female gate hinges are used in tandem with post hinges to enable gates to swing freely. The post hinge is fastened to a gate post via carriage bolt. From there a frame hinge is affixed and connected to the structure of the gate and slotted onto the post (male) hinge, allowing it to open and close. Most gates require two sets of male and female hinges to function properly. This is the most common way of creating gates for residential fencing.<\/p>\n
Frame hinges are made from factory pressed steel and given a zinc based galvanized coating. This makes the component very resistant to rust and corrosion, in addition to providing protection against all but the most severe of temperature and weather conditions.
